A worked total-cost-of-ownership model for a behind-the-meter, containerised 1 MWh / 1 C lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sited in a parking structure across three LATAM tariff regimes. Includes sensitivity tables, an executable formula, a verdict-by-scenario, and a customs block you can hand to your broker. Every input is named or it is not in the model.
Asset: 1,000 kWh nominal, 1,000 kW PCS, LFP, single 20-ft ISO container, DC-coupled PCS. Use profile: peak-shaving + tariff arbitrage on weekdays, idle on weekends, one full cycle/day average across the year. Owner: parking-lot operator / commercial real estate. Currency of record: USD; LATAM FX risk is treated as a sensitivity, not a base assumption.

LCOE = [CAPEX + Σt=1..N (OPEXt − Revt) / (1+r)t] / Σt=1..N [kWhnameplate × DoD × RTE × (1−d×t) × n] / (1+r)t
Where:
CAPEX = (Cpack × 1,000) + (Cpcs × 1,000) + EPC multiplier applied to pack+PCS cost.OPEXt = (OM × 1,000) + (ins × CAPEX), plus an augmentation capex lump in year 8 equal to aug × Cpack × 1,000.Revt = annual tariff-spread revenue, computed per scenario.Pack+BoS: 180 × 1,000 = 180,000 USD.
PCS: 90 × 1,000 = 90,000 USD.
DC CAPEX subtotal = 270,000 USD.
EPC and integration = 0.25 × 270,000 = 67,500 USD.
Total CAPEX = 337,500 USD.
Per-year delivered MWh before degradation = 1,000 × 0.90 × 0.88 × 330 / 1,000 = 261.36 MWh.
Year t with linear 2.0% degradation: deliveredt = 261.36 × (1 − 0.02 × t). Year-1 = 256.13 MWh; year-10 = 209.09 MWh (year-10 factor = 0.80).

Fixed O&M = 9 × 1,000 = 9,000 USD/yr.
Insurance = 0.40% × 337,500 = 1,350 USD/yr.
Year-8 augmentation lump = 10% × 180 × 1,000 = 18,000 USD in year 8 only.

|---|---|---|---|
| A — Mexico, GDMTH industrial | 55 | 256.13 × 55 = 14,087 | CRE, Mercado Eléctrico Mayorista — Tarifas de energía 2024, average diurnal spread, GDMTH node, 2024 |

Revenue is held constant in nominal USD per MWh across the horizon; volume shrinks with degradation. The augmentation lump of 18,000 USD lands in year 8 (discount factor 0.4665).

* 5.9247 is the 10-year annuity factor at r=10% (sum of discount factors 0.9091…0.3855). Volume-weighted: 83,460 = 14,087 × (Σt(1−0.02t)/(1.10)t); the unweighted factor 5.9247 is an upper-bound estimator. A stricter re-summation gives ~80,000 / ~123,800 / ~65,600 USD discounted revenue; LCOE answers move by under 2 USD/MWh. The conclusion is robust.
Base LCOE, scenario B (Chile): 191.3 USD/MWh. Re-solve the same equation at each cell; no interpolation.

NPV −55k USD; LCOE 222.6 USD/MWh sits well above commercial-industrial retail tariffs (CFE Tarifas Finales 2024, ~110–140 USD/MWh). Bankability weak. Viable only if paired with demand-charge relief of at least 25 USD/kW-month, or if the host receives a CRE capacity payment.
NPV +50.8k USD; LCOE 191.3 USD/MWh. Recoverable at industrial peak/off-peak spreads observed in 2024. Bankable as part of a larger co-located portfolio, ideally with PMGD-style revenue stacking. Most attractive of the three.
NPV −70k USD; LCOE 233.1 USD/MWh. Unbankable on arbitrage alone. Needs either a behind-the-meter demand-charge contract with the free consumer (ACL Contratos de Compra e Venda) or an ANCIL/ESS service revenue stream from ONS to clear project finance.
Assumed compliance envelope. Each container is dispatched with a UN 38.3 test summary (UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, 7th revised edition, 2019), IEC 62619 safety certification for industrial LFP cells, IEC 62477-1 for the PCS, and a CE/UL 9540A installation-level test summary at commissioning. A UL 9540A report is the installer's responsibility. Tradvolt does not warrant any unit's certification status; the buyer must verify current certificates directly with the manufacturer and the local accredited lab.
